GSS Handbook Cover Design Competition

Criteria:

Participants must be registered graduate students at the University of Windsor. The Front and Back cover may include the GSS logo but must include the GSS website (http://www.uwindsor.ca/gss/) as part of the design. “Graduate Student Society”, “University of Windsor”, the school year “2011-2012” and “Canadian Federation of Students Local 48” must also appear on the cover. Participants may include their names or signature at the bottom corner in smaller font. You may download the GSS logo to use of the cover ONLY and not for other personal use.

Size Specifications:

5.25” x 8.1875” allow an additional 0.125” on all sides for bleeds. (Note: do not include type or images within 0.125” of the edges or it will be cut off.) Allow 3/8” minimum for binding on the appropriate side.

Logos, Graphics and Fonts:

Logos: Logos and line art should be provided at a minimum 600 dpi.

Photos: 300 dpi is adequate for scanning photographs.

Fonts: Supply all screen and printer fonts and specify whether Type 1 or TrueType, and whether in original document or embedded. Dfont format fonts are NOT acceptable.

Acceptable File Formats:

TIFF files are acceptable, so long as they are submitted as single layer files in RGB, CMYK or Gray scale at 300 dpi at the output size of 5.5” x 8.4375”. PDF may be submitted, but must be prepared as follows:

1. When printing to PS file or creating PDF, bleeds must be set to .125” on all sides. Crop marks must be turned on. Colour bars, bleed marks and page information turned off.

2. If distilling a PS file, Acrobat Distiller must be set to standard press job options.

Contest closes March 31, 2012 @ noon, the winner will be announced in April
