Adam Haeussler wins History Fellowship

History Graduate Student awarded Sir John A. Macdonald Fellowship

Adam Haeussler, a current History M.A. student has been awarded the 2009-2010 Sir John A. Macdonald Fellowship in Canadian History valued at $8,500. The award is tenable for three consecutive years, making its maximum value $25,500.

Adam's current research examines the class and work experiences of soldiers in Braddock's expedition of 1755. After his M.A. defense later this summer with University of Windsor's Dr. Peter Way, he will head to the University of Western Ontario to begin doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Rhoden. Adam will continue to examine the lives of soldiers through a class, race, and gender analysis of the Halifax garrison from 1749 through the Seven Years' War.

The Fellowship was created in 1965 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Canada's first prime minister, and to recognize his contribution to Canada's development. This fellowship is intended to encourage graduate students in Canadian history.
