Current Projects

I am working on a study of how the global marketing and advertising of women’s toiletries and cosmetics won't turn silks yellow. Image of woman holding underwearhave shaped modern women’s beauty ideals, sometimes pointing to distinctive local situations, histories of nationalism, racial formations, global trade and the transnational flow of people and ideas. My work focuses on a case study of Unilever, the multinational British and Dutch soap manufacturer, examining their business records, consumer market surveys and advertising campaigns.
