Bio:
Dr. Marijke Taks joined the Faculty in 2001 from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. A frequent presenter at conferences in Europe and North America, Dr. Taks brings an expertise in socio-economic aspects of sport and leisure, with particular interests in consumer behaviour of various sport-oriented groups. She researches economic and tourism impact of sport events, and is currently broadening the impact scope on sport development. Mass participation and the ‘Sport for All’ philosophy guide her research. Dr. Taks is an accomplished teacher and has demonstrated her expertise as an advisor by supervising over 100 student research projects. She is currently the editor of the European Sport Management Quarterly.
