Bio:
Dr. Scott Martyn is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. As a former Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Fellow, Dr. Martyn spends much of his time investigating the historical evolution of the Olympic Games and affiliated insignia as sport marketing properties. He has served on the executive council of the International Centre for Olympic Studies, and continues to serve on executive councils of the North American Society for Sport History, and the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport. Along with an ever increasing number of edited volumes, book chapters, articles, and conference presentations, he has recently co-authored a book entitled Selling the Five Rings: The IOC and the Rise of Olympic Commercialism (Salt Lake City: University of Utah Press, 2002), with a revised edition released in July 2004. He is also the chief editor of International Sports Studies, and the managing editor of Olympika: The International Journal of Olympic Studies. Dr. Martyn's extensive knowledge in computer web based design has enabled him to edit for several scholarly web sites. Dr. Martyn's technologically advanced skills and teaching methods allow faculty and students alike to realize the full potential of the multimedia classroom.
