IMS Centre Laboratories

The IMS Centre laboratories are equipped with hardware and software to support its research program, including a computer server and graphics workstations, robotic work cells including associated fixtures, sensors and a real-time control system as well as Bosch assembly system, Rapid prototyping machine, and Coordinate measuring machine with tactile and laser sensors.

The laboratories are currently housed in Essex Hall (305, 307 and B-24). All laboratories will move to a new  home in the Centre for Engineering Innovation (CEI) (expected in 2012). The CEI is under construction.

A new laboratory for "Immersive Design, Visualization and Analysis (IDVA)" will be added to the IMS Centre facilities in the new CEI building.

There are three main laboratories:

  • Products Innovation, Verification & Realization Laboratory
  • Manufacturing Systems & Robotics Laboratory
  • Integrated Design & Manufacturing Laboratory
