Inspired Acting Lab logo

This is a workshop that will stay in me for the rest of my life. It is full of exercises that I can use. Scary but very exciting!

Martyne Heutte, Actor and Singer, Montreal

The Inspired Acting Lab fosters a positive and safe creative environment, free of judgement and full of support. We learn together, we explore together, and we develop our techniques and Creative Individualities as an ensemble. This lab fuels my passion to create art and encourages me to take risks to make discoveries.

Kenneth Caughey, BFA Student,
University of Windsor

The Inspired Acting Lab makes me feel like an artist. It provides me with an opportunity to experiment with new acting exercises in a welcoming environment. It has taught me to learn from success and failure alike.

Áine Donnelly, BFA Student,
University of Windsor

The Inspired Acting Lab is place of exploration and imagination, where we work together as an ensemble to develop exercises and our own artistic technique. It has made me bolder, more daring, more joyous, and I know that I will continue to work this way for the rest of my life."
Still feels inadequate, when I consider everything this lab has changed for me: my acting, my confidence in myself, and my approach to the work. I am truly so grateful to you for holding this lab. I feel privileged to be a part of this amazing endeavour.

Sofie Jarvis, BFA Student,
University of Windsor

When you leave the lab the sensation is that of having created your own artistic experience and a richer sense of how to progress on your own as an actor. I have such a stronger resonance with my inner life and emotional resonance because of the work that we have explored. I have crossed over into a new part of my artistic journey because of this lab and I have no intention of looking back.

James Kern, MFA Student,

In this work, the limitations or restrictions of reality get lifted to become the possibilities of the fantastic.

Darius Rathe, BFA Student,
University of Windsor

The Inspired Acting Lab is a place to explore my mind, body and voice with the guidance of Lionel Walsh. I leave Lab feeling invigorated, and honored to be an actor.

Kristina Riegle, Adjunct Theatre Faculty,
Wayne State University

The Inspired Acting Lab has opened my awareness to entirely new ways of exploring myself, my craft, and my peers. It allows the body and mind an outlet to communicate honestly and without judgement. The guidance and support which accompany the work also speak volumes to the lab and its aims: to strengthen the acting experience by allowing truth to arise and not be forced into existence.

Cody Robison, MFA Student,
Wayne State University

Contributing to the development of new exercises has helped me feel like an artist rather than solely a student. I can take ownership of my work within an ensemble. Also, there is no fear of making a mistake because we are developing these exercises and nothing  can be 'wrong'. The Inspired Acting Lab has helped me get out of my head and discover on my feet rather than thinking things through beforehand. It has taught me a new way of working that can be applied in rehearsals for all classes.

Nicole Smieja, BFA Acting Student,
University of Windsor

The Inspired Acting Lab has helped me to improve my confidence in acting. I have moved beyond acting as reciting  "lines" to fully embodying living breathing characters with real thoughts and emotions through the repetitive use of imagery and movement.
