Pastoral Care Course

2018 Fall Course

An exploration of rituals that permeate our everyday lives (such as handshakes, hugs, and shared meals) and those that mark times of transition or of special significance (such as birth, adolescence, marriage, serious illness and death). A consideration of the secular and religious rituals that are intended to help understand and live through these experiences meaningfully. A consideration of their inseparable inner reality and outer expression, as sharing a meal, for example  becomes the context for sharing one’s life. The course will also draw upon resources from story, music, and other arts, and will also consider pastoral implications.
