Call Procedures

Service Description

The following is a list of procedures for calling from a University phone:

COLLECT, PERSON-TO-PERSON, CREDIT CARD CALLS, ETC.:

Dial 9-0-Area Code, Number, Authorization Code (Operator will intercept).

DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE  (LOCAL AND AREA CODE 519):

Dial 9-411 and Authorization Code (75¢ charge if found in Windsor directory).

IF ALL OUTGOING LINES ARE BUSY:

  • Fast busy is heard.
  • Activate "Ring Again" Feature.
  • Queuing is applied against busy lines.
  • When a line is free, ring again signal is heard.
  • Pick up handset.
  • Call is processed automatically.

IF NUMBER DIALED IS BUSY:

  • Normal busy is heard.
  • User must re-dial.

LOCAL CALL:

Dial 9-519 & 7-digit number.

LONG DISTANCE CALL:

  • Dial 9-1 & Area Code & 7-digit number (This includes area codes 519 & 313).
  • System prompts for Authorization Code (10 bursts of tone).
  • Dial Authorization Code. 

LONG DISTANCE DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE  (AREA CODE 519):

Dial 9-411-, Authorization Code (Charges apply).

LONG DISTANCE DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE  (EXCEPT AREA CODE 519):

Dial 9-1-Area Code-555-1212, Authorization Code (Charges apply).

OVERSEAS CALLS:

Dial 9-011, Country Code, Routing Code, Number and Authorization Code.

Dial 0 and ask for an Overseas operator regarding information and rates.

Collect & Credit Card Calls - Dial 9-01, Country Code, Routing Code, Number and Authorization Code.

TOLL FREE CALLS:

In Canada and the U.S., dial 9-1-800-XXX-XXXX.
