Information Technology Leader Program

Service Description

The IT Leader Program provides IT education in various identified procedures and processes to individuals located in departments across the University campus who have been identified by their respective department head as participants in the program.

IT Leaders act primarily as local IT information resources and are knowledgeable in best end-user practices for various procedures and processes identified by IT Services. With the special training developed specifically for IT Leaders in these various procedures and processes and in the services available and offered by IT Services, IT Leaders are provided a roadmap to where solutions for common IT related issues can be found or to the contact information for the person who can address a particular issue. IT Leaders are thus able to direct persons in their area to the appropriate documentation outlining problem solving procedures. They also have the training to perform basic troubleshooting procedures if necessary. IT Leaders will always have the services of the IT Services HelpDesk available for problems encountered that are outside of their domain of expertise.

Some of the main objectives of the IT Leader program are:

  • To better use technology throughout the University Campus.
  • To increase the knowledge of the key/identified individuals who provide formal/informal IT support within their respective departments.
  • To provide more timely support for basic computing problems by training IT Leaders in identified problem solving procedures.
It should be noted that the IT Leader Program is voluntary. While IT Services encourages departments to participate, those choosing not to participate may use the services of the HelpDesk for IT support.
