IT Services runs a Novell network that supports over 1,200 faculty and staff workstations and over 800 student lab PCs. Most of the LAN is combined into one large Campus Area Network. The CAN Plan is a project that was dedicated to providing a LAN in every department and a connection for each faculty and staff member. As of the end of the Summer 2002 semester all faculties had been offered a LAN. Any faculty member who is not on Novell can be connected by contacting the Helpdesk.
IT Services supports a variety of LAN Services within the Novell CAN environment. The goal of these services is to provide the campus with:
Access to networked printing
Access to campus-wide software.
Access to shared files.
Personal drive space that allows people to save important data in an environment that is backed up.
A manageable PC environment.
