Office Productivity Software Standards (OPSS)

The Office Productivity Software Standards (OPSS) Project was finalized July 2008, in Phase III. It was determined that Microsoft Word would be the university standard for word processing. Users were encouraged to learn Microsoft Word and people have become accustomed to e-mailing editable documents in Word and non-editable documents in a PDF Format.        

Users who had WordPerfect installed were able to continue using the program; however, as of July 1, 2008, IT Services was no longer supporting WordPerfect.   Through  Phase I , Phase II, as well as Phase III directed training took place to assist WordPerfect users transition to Word.

The PDF Creator program is available for download at the UWinSoftwareDepot and Microsoft Office 2010 allows for the creation of a PDF from within the program itself.
