NetDrive

Novell® NetDrive

While Novell® NetStorage allowsyou quick and secured web-based access to your Novell drives and files, frequent users might find the process of file modification and downloading \ uploading through the menu a bit cumbersome for day to day use.

This is where Novell® NetDrive comes into the place.

Novell® NetDrive is a small client application (5.5MB) that uses the Internet WebDAV SSL protocol to connect your Windows PC across public or private networks to your Novell server (see Figure 1) running the NetStorage services and to map all your Novell drives (J: K: M: N: ...) as corresponding folders on your local Windows PC.

Benefits of NetDrive.

After the NetDrive client is installed and you are logged in to the Novell NetStorage you will get a new “NetDrive” that will hold all your Novell mapped drives as corresponding folders. (i.e. your J: drive is displayed as “DriveJ@username” ….etc).

The advantage over NetStorage is that these folders function like normal drives that are mapped using the Novell Client and you can add/remove or run these files as if they resided locally on your PC or you were logged in to Novell® using the Novell® Client. (See Figure 2)
