Preferred PC Vendor Program
Service Description
The University of Windsor has awarded preferred vendor status to three manufacturers/dealer combinations. They are:
For Windows based PCs:
- Dell Computer, in conjunction with Canadian Computer Distributors (CCD )
- HP Computer in conjunction with Metafore
- For Mac based PCs, all University and personal purchases should go through the University Bookstore.
Highlights of the "benefits" of this arrangement include:
- Competitive pricing on standard configurations including entry level, mid-range and high end desktop and laptops.
- High-quality local service.
- Options for departments to choose the manufacturer/vendor that they want to deal with
- All Windows PCs come with a standard configuration with licensed software installed
- Lower Total Cost of Ownership to the University and its staff by standardizing configurations from a limited number of vendors
- All University purchases are business class machines that include a 3 year, on-site four-hour warranty. Shipping and delivery costs are included on all purchases.
- While these configurations are primarily intended for University departments - anyone affiliated with the University of Windsor (faculty, staff, students and retirees) are able to purchase these systems at these special prices including for personal purchases. Personal purchases include a 3 year, drop-off warranty.
