Network maintenance Thu Jul 19 6:00-6:30

IT Services will be performing maintenance on the GlobalProtect VPN service Thursday July 19 from 6:00-6:30am. This work may result in existing VPN connections failing and will require users to disconnect and reconnect to the VPN.

If there are problems with the VPN after 8:00am, please contact the ServiceDesk at ext. 4440 or open a ticket at http://www.uwindsor.ca/itshelp

IT Services will be performing maintenance on the wireless network controllers Thursday July 19 from 6:30-8:30am. This work will affect the login page on the uwindsor wireless network and users will be unable to authenticate for approximately 5 minutes while the web server is restarted.

If there are problems with the wireless networks after 8:00am, please contact the IT ServiceDesk at ext. 4440.

IT Services will be performing network maintenance Friday July 13 from 6:00-6:30am. This activity is not expected to cause a service outage.

If there is a problem, there could be a short 2-3 minute outage while the configuration is reverted. This would affect many campus services such as Blackboard, campus websites and the myUWindsor portal.

If you experience problems after 8:00am, please contact the IT ServiceDesk at ext. 4440.

Email delivery delays

The University is currently experiencing delays with delivery of new email.  Emails from the Internet or UWinGmail may be delivered an hour or more after they were originally sent.  IT Services are investigating the issue and we are reaching out to our vendor partner for troubleshooting.

Update Jul 10 8:00am: Queued messages were delivered overnight.  This may be a volume-related problem that will re-occur during times of higher message volume.  IT Services will continue to monitor and troubleshoot the performance of the system throughout the day.

Resolved: Problem with External Mail Delivery

Update July 9 6:45am: the email delivery issue was resolved early this morning and queued messages were delivered overnight. If you are still missing messages you were expecting to receive over the weekend, please contact the ServiceDesk at ext. 4440 or open a ticket at http://uwindsor.ca/itshelp

The University is current experiencing problems with receiving e-mails from outside of Office 365. Our administrators are actively working on the problem. Apologies for any issues this may have caused.

The University is current experiencing problems with receiving e-mails from outside the organization. Our administrators are actively working on the problem. Apologies for any issues this may have caused.

Blackboard Login Page is changing

On Wednesday July 4th 2018: IT Services will be updating blackboard to use our standard single sign on page. This is the page that you see when logging into UWinGMail or UWinSite Finance.

This change will resolve issues where Blackboard suddenly says your password is incorrect.

There should not be any outage for this change but you will see the login page change.

Phishing Email "HELLO" / iTunes gift cards

Please be advised we have received recent reports of a new phishing email. This phishing scam requested the recipient to purchase a number of itunes gift cards, scratch the back, and take a picture / send back to the 'from' email address. This email appeared to come from a familiar University name, but had a different email address.

Please ensure you inspect the 'from' email address details. This phishing email appeared to come from a familiar contact name but the underlying email address did not contain '@uwindsor.ca'.

Please be advised we have received reports of a new phishing/scam email. This particular scam is indicating your email has been "blacklisted". Please do not click any links in this message and immediately delete it. If you did click any link in the email, please contact the IT Service desk right away.

Anti-Spam Email Appliance Maintenance

IT Services will be performing server maintenance on the anti-spam email appliances on June 21st at 7:00 AM and there may be a short delay in processing the incoming mail. If you have any questions or experience any problems please contact Service Desk at ext.4440.
