Support

Devices

Almost any device that fully supports the WPA2 and 802.1x protocols can be connected to the wireless network. However, due to a number of issues, connecting printers to the wireless network with a wireless adapter is not supported.

Troubleshooting

While connecting to the wireless network should be seamless, sometimes problems can arise. Reasons for loss of connectivity can include:

  • Malware
  • Excessive security options
  • Hardware malfunction
  • Network Maintenance
  • Server Malfunction
With the large volume of traffic expected on the wireless network, it is necessary that IT Services strictly limits the support we offer to issues directly related to UWin Wireless connectivity. If you are experiencing issues such as program crashes or boot up problems, you must contact an external technician to address it. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that their computer is free of spyware and viruses, and HelpDesk support on infections is limited to the online documentation, and the support booklets available in the University Computer Center.

In the "Getting Started" section of the UWin Wireless website, there are detailed instructions on how to connect your PC to the wireless network. Along with each step is a set of "FAQ Highlights" that will help you troubleshoot all the common problems of which we currently aware. If you have followed the "Getting Started" guide, and your problem is not addressed, please inform the IT Services Helpdesk.
