Social Media in Sport Research: 

Working with Big and Small Data

Dr. Ann Pegoraro is the Director of the Institute for Sport Marketing (ISM) and holds an appointment as an Associate Professor in School of Human Kinetics, all at Laurentian University. She holds a B.A. and MBA degree and received her doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Pegoraro is an active researcher who has focused her research on the intersection of digital media and sport and is often sought out as an expert in this field. Her recent work has focused on the intersection of sport and social issues including athlete activism in the digital age. Dr. Pegoraro has authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles with her work published in journals such as Sex Roles, Sport in Society, Communication and Sport, American Behavioral Scientist, Journal of Sport Management, Online Information Review, and the Journal of Sponsorship.
