Welcome to Labour Studies

We often think of a job as a place to make a living but work is really so much more.  Jobs and careers often define who we are, how we see ourselves, and how others see us.  Fair wages, clean, healthy and safe workplaces, interesting and stimulating work, all make a huge difference in our lives.  Yet we often don't think about why we are working where we are, why work is the way it is, and what can be done to make it better.
 

Labour Studies is about revealing and understanding the importance of work in our lives, it's about grappling with the problems, limitations and challenges of workplaces, and ultimately, it's about figuring out ways to make improvements for all workers.

• organizational psychology
• globalization
• occupational health and safety
• environmental pollution
• sexual and racial discrimination
• human rights
   

The Windsor Labour Studies program gives you the opportunity to study and learn in a city which has been central to the development of the labour movement in Canada.  Windsor is home to a range of unions, social action groups, and organizations, such as the Windsor Workers' Action Centre.
