Windsor Law is pleased to welcome Dean Camille Cameron, who joined the faculty on January 1, 2012.
Dean Cameron comes to Windsor Law from Australia's Melbourne University, where, in addition to her teaching and research activities as a law professor, she was an Associate Dean and the founder and Director of the Civil Justice Research Group. She earned a B.A. from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, an LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick, and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. Prior to becoming an academic she practised law for 10 years in Halifax, specializing in civil litigation.
Professor Cameron's research interests include access to justice, the administration of civil justice and court reform in transitional legal systems. She has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the International Human Rights Law Group on projects related to legal and judicial training and reform.
Dean Cameron said she is impressed with the culture of the law school and the University of Windsor.
"The fondness for their law school shown by the Windsor Law students and graduates I have met speaks very well for the faculty and the university."
She said she was attracted to the school for a variety of reasons, including faculty expertise in transnational law and the clinical and interdisciplinary programs.
"The diversity of the faculty’s research and teaching programs offers exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary research," said Cameron. "I am looking forward to working with faculty colleagues to take advantage of those opportunities."
Dean Cameron has enjoyed her first three weeks. She attributes a relatively smooth transition to the expertise and commitment of Professor Myra Tawfik, who served as Acting Dean from July to December, 2011, and Windsor Law’s talented and dedicated staff.
