Evaluation Methodology:

  • The course will be evaluated on the basis of a research paper worth 70% of the final grade and a 30-minute presentation worth 20%. The remaining 10% of the grade will be assessed on the basis of student participation in classroom discussions.

Course Description:
The course will serve as an introduction to Distributed Ledger Technology (Blockchain) and outline the challenges that Blockchain-based technologies will pose to existing commercial law doctrines. In particular, the course will focus on the legal aspects surrounding the development of cryptocurrencies, smart – contracts and Blockchain Based Software applications. Topics to be considered include the law of payment mechanisms, consumer protection, and Privacy Laws and Regulations. *Although there are no prerequisites for this course, Commercial Law – Sales, or Banking and Negotiable Instruments are recommended.
