Class of 2020 - Virtual Celebration

Friday, May 29, 2020

On March 24, 2020, University of Windsor Chancellor Mary Jo Haddad announced that Spring 2020 Convocation ceremonies will be postponed to help address the spread of COVID-19 and support social distancing.

When the University of Windsor made the difficult decision to postpone Spring Convocation, the administration at Windsor Law began to explore alternative means to celebrate the Class of 2020. Although we cannot meet in person at this time, we have come up with one small way to celebrate this important milestone: #MiniCon2020

In addition to the forthcoming Fall Convocation ceremony for graduates, a celebratory video will be launched during Spring Convocation’s originally scheduled date and time for law graduates: May 29 at 3pm. A public watch page is available on Windsor Law’s YouTube channel; and, all graduating students are encouraged to share the watch page link with their families and friends.

Virtually join us at 3pm on Friday, May 29 so that we may watch and celebrate together as a community. Subscribe to Windsor Law's YouTube channel and ring the bell for video notifications. Don't forget to share the link and post congratulatory messages to, and favourite memories of, the Class of 2020.

The #MiniCon2020 premiere will feature remarks from University of Windsor President Robert Gordon, Dean Christopher Waters, Class of 1995 representative Madam Justice Jasmine Akbarali, Class of 2020 Valedictorian Kayla Smith, and Students' Law Society President Rosamund Taylor.

Although it won't replace Convocation to be held in the Fall, our hope is that we may come together to recognize the unparalleled resiliency and achievements of the Windsor Law Class of 2020, in some way, as scheduled!
