Red Carpet Bound!
Odette MBA Program Director, Dr. Vincent Georgie, and MBA students Jesse Tepperman and Kyra Michaeloff flew out early Wednesday morning to experience 88th Annual Academy Awards Weekend from the City of Los Angeles.
Considered the ‘Olympics for the entertainment world,’ the Oscars are an event like no other. “The entire global film industry congregates on LA, so it is the most impactful time to see the industry in all its glory,” stated Georgie who also serves as the Executive Director for the Windsor International Film Festival. “Being able to expose Kyra and Jesse to the inner-workings of the Oscars and all its ancillary events allows them to deeply understand the business-side of the industry.”
Georgie noted the very high barriers to access in the film industry, “It is very private, insular and complicated… this (weekend) is an incomparable advantage Kira and Jesse will have as they being their own professional pursuits."
Tepperman echoed the statements by Georgie and plans on using the weekend as a springboard for a career in the film business. “Being able to network with top industry players is quite simply the beginning foundation to a successful career in film," Tepperman says. “I am hoping to establish relationships with key Hollywood players so, that upon graduation, I can set myself up for a solid career in the film industry.”
This is the 3rd time Georgie has brought students down to LA with him to the Oscars- - an initiative which Georgie says is a direct reflection of the type of program Windsor offers, “The Odette MBA is a boutique program that is interested in providing experiential, unique and impactful learning opportunities to our students.” And quite the experience it is.
