Thinking Forward ... Taking Action

Measuring What We Do

From the actions we take, and from the ways in which we must account for the resources we use, we are given goals. In the same way as our goals should resonate across the University, so too should the expectations to measure our performance.

The Strategic Plan must lead to an accountability framework that will tell us whether we are indeed creating the kind of University we say we want. As the Action Planning Groups begin their work, they will be provided with a list of those things that we must report to the government with respect to our performance. From the actions we agree upon, we must also derive additional things that we will measure of ourselves. Whether it be retention rates for our students, research successes of our faculty, or other kinds of performance indicators, it is incumbent upon us to ensure that we are in fact doing what we aspire to do.

Following completion of the Strategic Plan, a reporting framework will be developed that will enable us to share with our Board and Senate, the broad University community, and with anyone who wishes to log on to the University of Windsor web site, a report on how we are doing. Through systematic reporting of progress against goals, we can incrementally demonstrate that everyone engaged with the University of Windsor — on campus and beyond — has reasons to be confident and proud.
