The Platform Presentations will take place in room 100 of The Toldo Education Centre on Sunset Avenue. The presentations will be 15 minutes in length, with five minutes for questions following each presentation. We will make all efforts to ensure that presentations begin and end on time.
PowerPoint: To minimize setup time, we ask that you do not plan to use your own computer, but rather bring your presentation on a USB memory stick or CD with you to the conference. Please also send your presentation to mlg7@uwindsor.ca as an attachment by June 25th, 2010
Please use “PowerPoint FirstAuthor” as both the file name and subject header (ie: “PowerPoint Buchanan”). We will be using two data projectors and computers so that your presentation can be loaded and set up by our staff before your talk begins.
Timing: We will be employing a “Computerized Timing Assistant” for the platform presentations. You will hear a “beep” after the first ten minutes of your presentation, and a final beep at the end of 15 minutes (to guard against drastic time overruns, synthesized applause are programmed to begin after twenty minutes).
Other Equipment: Overhead projectors, laser pens, cassette players, and transparency pens will also be available. Please let us know if you require any other equipment by sending a detailed e-mail to mlg7@uwindsor.ca
before June 1st, 2010.
Posters will be placed in the Toldo Education Centre lobby on Sunset Ave.
Size:
The poster boards we will have available are 4 feet in width (48 inches or 122 cm) and 4 feet 9 inches in height (57 inches or 145 cm).
Please prepare your poster smaller than these dimensions, in order that it can be affixed with push pins (provided by us) within these dimensions.
Ideally, your poster should be readable from a distance of one meter.
(an ideal size would be 106.67cm (3.5 feet) wide by 91.44 cm (3 feet) high).
Setup times:
If your poster will be presented in the morning session, please set it up just after breakfast. It will thus be viewable throughout the morning. Posters presented in the afternoon session should be set up before the end of the lunch break. We will have student volunteers available to assist you with both the setup and removal of your poster.
Handouts:
If you are preparing your poster electronically using PowerPoint or a similar application, you may wish to prepare about 50 black and white standard paper sized miniatures (DIN A4 or 8 1/2” X 11”) as handouts. We will provide pouches for these handouts at each poster board and will also be happy to post one of your miniatures on the “Poster Gallery Board” that will be viewable throughout the conference.
