Bobo Brass Day - University of Windsor

Dr. Jonathan Helmick and Travis Scott, workshop coordinators

We are excited to announce the addition of a Low Brass Day at the School of Creative Arts on Saturday, June 23, 2018!

The 2018 Roger Bobo Brass Day will take place at the University of Windsor School of Creative Arts' new home, the re-imagined Armouries located at 37 University Avenue East, one block east of Ouellette Avenue in downtown Windsor.

Enrollment is open to brass musicians of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

The day will conclude with a Workshop Concert, open to family and the public. In addition to a performance by the workshop mass ensemble, the final event will include an intimate formal interview session with Roger Bobo in which participants will be able to ask him questions.

Tuition and Logistics

TUITION: We are thrilled to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to the brass students of the Windsor area (and those traveling from a distance) for a very affordable rate. Tuition for the day including performing in the masterclass with Roger Bobo is only $95.00 (in Canadian currency). For those who wish to observe the masterclass, but not play, the tuition is $65 CDN.  Refunds are offered up to May 23rd - afterwards no refunds will be made.

MASTERCLASSES: If you are interested in performing in the masterclass with Roger Bobo, please contact Travis Scott to reserve your spot. We will schedule these on a first-come basis, but we will try to accommodate everyone. For those who have never experienced a masterclass, this is like receiving a one-on-one lesson with Roger, but in front of the class. Students typically pick a solo, an excerpt, or an etude to work on with the person giving the masterclass. This is a way for you to get personal feedback, but also for those watching to learn as well.

MUSIC: Music for the camp will be sent to you by email on or before June 5, 2018. Because of time restrictions, participants are encouraged to prepare the music for the camp in advance.

MEALS/LODGING: There are a number of restaurants within walking distance of the SoCA Armouries, including Burger King, Tim Horton's, Pizza Pizza and Shwarma Kingom.  Meals will not be provided by the camp.
