Odette student Bianca Betschel reveals how she turned things around and started finding success in her business studies at Odette.

Getting Down to Business: Providing services to help students

A fourth-year student looking forward to graduation, Bianca Betschel is more excited than ever to begin her career in marketing. But she wasn’t always so successful.

Many students find the transition from high school to University challenging – both personally and academically. And many more students are surprised by the demands of the program requirements, often finding their courses are much more intensive than classes at the high school level.

Betschel spent her first three semesters on academic probation. On her third attempt to pass math, she knew it was time to shape up or ship out.

“It just sort of all happened so fast,” she says. “I fooled myself into thinking I could cram catching up into a weekend and was in denial about how much effort it would take to catch up.”

Stephanie Coccimiglio, Odette Experience Coordinator, spoke with Betschel about how she turned things around and started finding success by changing her study habits and with help and support from Odette faculty and staff.
