After only three years of charter and a year of many successes, the Odette Toastmasters club has achieved Select Distinguished Club Status, just shy of accomplishing top honours, the President’s Distinguished Club Status, by one point.
Odette Toastmasters, the only student club in the district is held in very high regard. “Odette Toastmasters is one of the winning clubs in the area.” said Francis Irschick, Area 41 Governor. “It promises to be a really solid club providing an enormous service to students, alumni, and staff of the University of Windsor for many years to come. I’m very proud of this club, it stands to be one of the very giants within our Toastmasters community."
Kevin Kapustaik was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the club through Toastmasters Distinguished Club Program for all his hard work and dedication as president over the last year in support of advancing Odette Toastmasters to Select Distinguished Status. The Distinguished Club Program is the way to measure the performance of a Toastmasters club by way of achieving specific goals. There are three levels: distinguished club, select distinguished club, and President's distinguished.
Wellington Hepburn, Toastmasters District Public Relations Officer, and alumnus of the Odette Toastmasters Club, could not agree more with fellow Toastmaster Francis. "It is exciting to see the club grow and become established, to provide a positive environment in which members can participate in helping others to speak more effectively, and develop leadership competencies to become successful."
