Employment Equity Overview

The goal of employment equity is to eliminate discriminatory barriers that interfere with the hiring, promotion, retention, and training of four designated groups:

  1. aboriginal people
  2. people with disabilities
  3. visible minorities
  4. women

The University of Windsor's Employment Equity Mandate is to assist the university in meeting its legal and moral obligations under the Federal Contractor's Program (FCP).  This program replaced the provincial Employment Equity Act for all provincially regulated employers.

The successful implementation of employment equity depends on the full participation of all faculty and staff, from completing the census survey up to and including providing input and consultation through advisory committees and other means.
