Eligibility and Renewal

Course Load/Continuous Study:
Recipients must register as full-time students (i.e. at least 80% of a full course load for the student’s program per semester, taken for credit) in the year immediately following the conferring of the awards.

Program Requirements:
A student is eligible for only one Outstanding Scholars Award. Those choosing to take a combined honours program in two programs eligible for the Award must select and maintain one of these programs for Award purposes. Note that students registered in the Business and Economics Program are not eligible for an Outstanding Scholars Award.

Maintaining Eligibility:
In order to renew the award and receive the following year’s instalment, recipients must:

Achieve a minimum of a 11.0 cumulative average at the end of each semester at the University of Windsor; and

  • Attend monthly meetings with the Program Co-ordinator during first year; and
  • Follow degree requirements as outlined in the University of Windsor undergraduate calendar. In selecting courses, Outstanding Scholars should seek assistance from academic advisors in their department/school/faculty; and
  • Hold an academic appointment during second, third and fourth year; and
  • Complete a two day academic appointment training course at the beginning of second year.

Receiving Scholarship Funds:

The Outstanding Scholars Award will be credited to the students account through the Office of the Director of Finance. The award funds will be credited one semester at a time, subject to the conditions specified above.

Most other awards can be held concurrently with an Outstanding Scholars Award
