Andrew Drouillard, Political Science, Windsor

Andrew Drouillard received his BA Honours degree in Political Science at the University of Windsor in 2011, with minors in Environmental Science and Classical Civilizations. During his undergraduate degree Andrew took advantage of many extracurricular opportunities on campus, including serving on the Political Science AAU Council and as President of the Undergraduate Society for International Relations and Political Science (USIRPS). These opportunities gave Andrew a wealth of experience in participating on decision-making bodies. He also highly values his experience as a Mentor in the Mentorship & Learning Program, which he has constantly relied upon in the early stages of his career. After his third year, Andrew was fortunate to secure an internship in the Office of the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and in his fourth year, an internship at the City of Windsor in the CAO's Office.

In 2012, Andrew received a SSHRC scholarship to complete his MA in Political Science at the University of Windsor, where he was able to continue his extracurricular activities by serving on the FAHSS Dean Search Committee, the Graduate Student Society and the Dean's Cultural Fee Committee. He also completed a second internship at the City of Windsor, which he credits with supplying him with the work experience needed to land his first contract at the Town of Tecumseh as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Staff Services/Clerk and to eventually secure a position in the CAO's Office at the City of Windsor. The writing, analysis, and communication skills Andrew developed in the Political Science program have proven to be an important asset throughout his career.

Andrew is currently employed at the City of Windsor as the Executive Initiatives Coordinator in the CAO's Office, after working as the Policy/Research Assistant in the Mayor's Office and the Corporate Initiatives Analyst in the CAO's Office, though he is currently seconded to a large internal payroll software implementation project, allowing him to broaden his work experience and develop new skills. Andrew continues to further his education while working full time.  He has completed a Diploma in Municipal Administration through the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario's Municipal and is currently in the last year of the MBA for Managers and Professionals program at the University of Windsor.
