Laura Robinson

Laura RobinsonLaura Robinson began the master’s degree program at the University of Windsor in 2012. Her main area of research was women and politics; however, the selection of master’s courses allowed her to diversify her studies with research in biometric technology, assisted suicide and Ontario’s health care system.

As part of her MA degree, Laura pursued the internship stream which allows students to work for six months in a practical political setting and write a final internship paper. Laura’s internship was with the City of Windsor's Chief Administrative Office. During her internship, Laura gained valuable experience with project and risk management, policy writing, and performance management and reporting, and was involved in several research initiatives for the city's Licensing Department. Laura’s final internship paper, titled "The Media's 'Gendered Yardstick'", focused on women in politics by examining how different female politicians have been framed in the media using gendered language and representations.

Since completing the program in December 2013, she has assisted a national association with a government relations project and regulatory research.
