Research
Professor Brooks teaches in the areas of Canadian politics and American politics. His research interests include the political influence of intellectuals, political thought in Canada and the United States, foreign perceptions of American politics and public policy. His recent books include Six penseurs en quête de liberté, d'égalité et de communauté (with Alain G. Gagnon and James Bickerton, also in English as Freedom, Equality, Community: The Political Philosophy of Six Influential Canadians), Canadian Democracy (6th ed), Understanding American Politics, and As Others See Us: The Causes and Consequences of Foreign Perceptions of America.
