Raise the curtain on theatrical opportunities [1]
Windsor and the surrounding region offer a number of opportunities for theatre-goers and aspiring performers.
University Players [2], the production company of the School of Dramatic Art [3], celebrated its 60th season in 2019. Each year, it stages a mix of drama and comedy, from the ancient to the modern. UWindsor students are eligible for a discount on ticket prices. It performs in the Essex Hall Theatre, with 320 plush seats.
The Jackman Dramatic Art Centre [4], home of the School of Dramatic Art, houses the intimate 80-seat Studio Theatre, used for smaller productions.
The city also boasts a variety of community, professional, and semi-pro theatre companies.
Touring production companies bring Broadway shows to such Detroit venues as the Fox Theatre [8] and the Fisher Theatre [9]. Full seasons are mounted each year by the Detroit Repertory Theatre [10] and the drama department of Wayne State University [11], which operates the Bonstelle, Hilberry and Studio theatres.
