The Master of Management Employment Program, facilitated by the Odette Student Success Centre, guides students in the development of their career plan and builds the skills necessary for employment after graduation.
The program includes a series of speakers, workshops, one-on-one meetings, and assignments that build on labour market understanding, resume and cover letter development, networking skills, professional development opportunities, and job search strategies. In addition, students have unlimited access to one-on-one appointments with a Career Advisor and are encouraged to practice their interviewing skills using video play-back technology.
The Employment Program begins at the start of each intake (September and January) and involves activities each term. Some of the valuable topics include:
- Skills Matching and Gap Analysis
- Labour Market Assessment (Canadian and Global)
- Resume and Cover Letter Development
- Orientation to Job Searching in Canada and Accessing Internet Job Searching Resources for International Employment
- Immigration Legislation and Guidelines
- Effective Networking
- Interview Techniques and One-on-One Mock Interview Appointments
Term 1: Make an appointment and assess your skills with the Odette Student Success Centre via mySuccess and refine your resume during the Business Communications course
Term 2: Develop your interview skills during the Business Communications course
Term 3: Attend a Job Search workshop and a session on Immigration and Work Permits presented by the International Student Centre
Term 4: Make an appointment to participate in a mock interview with the Odette Student Success Centre via mySuccess
