Computing Software

The University provides access to licenses to many widely used software packages at no cost or low cost. Frequently installed software packages include the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, IBM SPSS, IBM AMOS, and the SAS statistical package.

Information Technology Services regularly provide workshops on the use of frequently used software packages. Training in the use of advanced functions within Microsoft Excel is highly recommended, as this (and similar) software is extremely useful when conducting research.

The department owns permanent licenses to the Direct RT (2012 version) and Media Lab (2012 version) experimental software packages.
More information about these packages is available at www.empirisoft.com.

Any member of the department may download these packages and install them on computers that are being used for research conducted in the department.
