Letter from the Program Chair

As the Psychology Undergraduate Program Chair, I’d like to welcome you to our website and thank you for your interest in our department and our undergraduate Psychology programs.

Why study Psychology at the University of Windsor?  Our undergraduate programs emphasize training in both the applied and research aspects of Psychology.  Our faculty members include distinguished researchers and professors who have been nationally recognized for teaching excellence.  At the same time, the department’s atmosphere is relatively informal, and students have opportunities to get to know Psychology professors one-on-one.  Our student body is diverse, vibrant, and engaged in many aspects of the discipline of Psychology.  Many students volunteer as student representatives on departmental committees, or gain experience with cutting-edge research by volunteering in faculty research labs.

Our department covers several areas of Psychology, including neuropsychology, applied social, developmental, and clinical psychology. We offer a number of undergraduate Psychology programs to meet the unique needs of our students.  These include both General and Honours BA degrees in both Psychology and Developmental Psychology, and a BSc degree in Behaviour, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Students who intend to pursue graduate studies in Psychology can complete a program that includes an honours thesis.  Students can also combine psychology with another discipline for a combined major Honours B.A.  We also offer minors in both Psychology and Child Psychology.

Faculty members in the Psychology Department have connections with many community organizations in Windsor and the surrounding area, including Michigan.  These community connections enliven faculty members' teaching and research, and provide volunteer and practicum opportunities for our students.

We invite you to read our mission statement and to explore our Undergraduate web pages, and we would be happy to answer any questions that you might have about our programsSimply email psychology@uwindsor.ca for more information.  If you have questions about how to apply to our undergraduate programs or would like to arrange a tour of our campus, please contact one of the nice people in our Liaison and Student Recruitment Office.  We will do everything we can to make your experience here a warm and welcoming one!

Sincerely,

Kimberley Babb
