1. Attend Head Start Orientation (June 2013)

Finalize course registration with support from your department

Ensure you have all the facts about financial aid, scholarships, residence and meal plans

Get essentials like your UWinCARD (student I.D. card)

Learn how to navigate campus

Begin registering for fall 2013 classes. Registration begins May 13, 2013

Parents/family members are also encouraged to attend Head Start to learn how to best provide support to their student(s) during the transition to university

Identify contacts who can answer questions that arise after orientation
2. Attend Windsor Welcome Week (Sept 1-7, 2013)

Make connections at social events like concerts, festivals and evening events

Free food and amazing prizes (learn how you can win a free semester’s tuition—up to $3,000)

Get to know campus services

Meet your professors, staff and students in your program

Learn about professors’ expectations for the classroom, tests and assignments

Attend events to increase the likelihood of your academic success
3. Join “New at UWindsor 2013” on Facebook

Stay informed, chat with other first-year students and ask questions of staff
4. Participate in Campus Lifeline (Fall/Winter)

STEPS - sessions that help with test anxiety, time management and strategies for studying at a university level (strongly recommended for all first-year students)

Campus Life Line – online support for managing personal resources, academics, career-related experiences, health and wellness, and personal success (one-on-one appointments available)

June 7, 10, 11, 2013 Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Human Kinetics
Check-in: 8:30 a.m.
Program Start: 9 a.m. sharp
Program End: 3 p.m.

How do I sign up for Head Start?
Visit www.uwindsor.ca/headstart. You can choose from one of three dates. The dates provided online will be posted according to the program you are taking in the fall.

Addresses transition issues such as: changes related to classroom size, commuting concerns, roommates, changing relationships, homework demands, extra-curricular opportunities, campus involvement, health and wellness

Provides information about what to expect the first year, such as related expenses, residences and meal plan options, awards, scholarships and financial aid, campus safety, independence
