The Office of Research and Innovation Services is Moving

 

The Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre will be the new home for the Office of Research and Innovation Services. As of March 23, you can find us near the corner of Wyandotte and Sunset. The Office of Research Finance will be joining Research and Innovation Services in April.

  

Annual Event at Devonshire Mall to Showcase UWindsor Research

Our fourth annual "Research Showcase and Outreach to Community" event will take place at Devonshire Mall on Saturday, April 25, 2015.

UWindsor researchers and their teams are invited to put on interactive exhibits and hands-on demonstrations related to their research.

This is an excellent opportunity for faculty and student researchers to build relationships within our community and let the community know about the amazing research being done at UWindsor. We look forward to your participation.

New Mitacs Business Development Specialist for Windsor

UWindsor grad, Katie Facecchia, M.Sc., B.Ed. is the new Business Development Specialist for Mitacs for the University of Windsor. She replaces Jillian Hatnean who has left Windsor for another opportunity within the organization.

Mitacs is a not-for-profit, national research organization that provides funding initiatives for collaborative research projects between universities and industry/partner organizations, as well as training programs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Mitacs also supports two-way research collaboration between Canada and international partners in Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, mainland China, India, Vietnam and France. Mitacs has also recently expanded their program to include eligible not-for-profit organizations. If you are interested in exploring Mitacs' funding opportunities please contact Katie at 519 560-1582 or at kfacecchia@mitacs.ca. She is looking forward to meeting with faculty members to discuss research goals.

Humanities and Social Sciences Internal Research Grant Competition (HSSRG)
Deadline: March 16, 2015

The Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS) invites applications under the University of Windsor Humanities and Social Sciences Research Grants (HSSRG) Program. These grants are small non-renewable funding opportunities for researchers to conduct research and other scholarly and artistic activities that aid in strengthening future external grant applications. The maximum amount per grant is $5,000.

The Guidelines for the Program together with the Application form and instructions may be accessed on the ORIS website. Please note: The Application form and Guidelines have been revised and old forms will not be accepted.

If you wish review and feedback on your application, please submit a draft copy electronically to Diane Awram by March 2, 2015.

Signed copies of the Application are to be submitted to Diane Awram, Research Facilitator, by March 16, 2015.

  • Recommended deadline to request letter of support from VP-Research & Innovation (c/o N. Wiebe) – March 2, 2015  
  • FAHSS deadline for review (c/o E. Maticka-Tyndale) – April 1, 2015
  • ORIS deadline for review – April 15, 2015. Applications submitted after this date may receive a cursory review for completeness rather than suggestions for strengthening the proposal.
  • Deadline for submission to SSHRC – By 4 pm on May 1, 2015 (Subsequent Connection Grant competitions have deadlines of August 1, 2015, November 1, 2015, and February 1, 2016.)

CIHR Townhall Rescheduled

The Canada Foundation for Innovation wants to Promote your Lab to Business

Is your Lab Open for Business?

The CFI Navigator lets you promote your lab and expertise to potential research partners in the private sector. The Navigator is open to all research labs, or facilities that have received funding from the CFI, or that use CFI-funded infrastructure, and that are already working with business, or are looking to do so. CFI welcomes profiles of labs and facilities in all disciplines.

Competition to Encourage Students to Find Solutions to Accessibility Barriers

The Council of Ontario Universities, in partnership with the Government of Ontario, is pleased to present the fourth annual Innovative Designs for Accessibility (IDeA) student competition.

The IDeA competition seeks innovative, cost-effective and practical solutions to accessibility-related barriers in the community.

Ontario’s university undergraduate students are encouraged to use their creativity, working individually or in teams with industry, government and community partners, including members of the disability community, to identify an accessibility-related issue, develop a plan to address the issue, and create an innovative and unique solution to it.
