Abstract:

Due to abbreviations, misspelling, and lack of standard in digital libraries (DLs), many authors may share the same name and an author may have multiple names. This problem is call author name ambiguity, which makes digital libraries can’t associate scholarly works with their authors. This posing significant challenges to the management of DLs and scholar related service provider.
Author name disambiguation (AND) is a domain for solving author name ambiguity. Many of previous methods for AND using classification methods are limited to lack of training samples since labelled samples are difficult to obtain.
Therefore, in this thesis, we will apply co-training: a semi-supervised algorithm that use both labelled and unlabeled data; to compare with several existing classification methods in hoping to boost the result of existing work.
