Abstract:

When it comes to revolutionary technologies, quantum computing has become one of the latest buzzwords.  With great positive potential, there can be equally negative disruption.  Quantum computing promises incredible breakthroughs, some we understand and some we can only imagine.  It's also a nightmare for cybersecurity specialists and a dream come true for government-sponsored hackers and those wishing to attack our most sensitive data and systems.  The University of Windsor’s Developer Student Club is proud to welcome Paul Lucier to deliver this talk that will examine both sides of quantum with a focus on exploring the need to address cyber defences first in order to make quantum computing a strategic enabler.
