Facilities

Dr. Al-Aasm's stable isotope laboratory is equipped with a Thermo Finnigan Delta Plus mass spectrometer (with a dual inlet system) coupled to a Thermo Finnigan Flash elemental analyzer for continuous-flow capability.  A 10 port manifold is used to measure gas samples prepared off-line using vacuum extraction lines.  The laboratory offers analysis of stable isotopes of 13C/12C, 15N/14N and 18O/16O in a wide array of geologic, hydrologic and biologic materials.
