S.I.U.: Independent Investigations and Community Confidence

Jasbir Brar

Outreach coordinator Special Investigations Unit (SIU)

The special Investigations Unit (SIU) remains in the vanguard of civilian oversight in Canada. When police officers are involved in incidents where someone has been seriously injured, dies or alleges sexual assault, the SIU has the statutory mandate to conduct independent investigations to determine whether a criminal offence took place. Learn more about the SIU at this presentation which will clarify the mandate of the organization, the governing legislation, and its investigative process.

Open to public.

Light lunch provided.
