Academic Advising/Counselling

Academic counseling is available to students all year-round. Students should seek the advice of an Academic Advisor when:

  • they wish to discuss program requirements and course selection for an upcoming semester
     
  • they are having serious problems with coursework
     
  • they want to discuss career issues and preparation or a choice/change of major
     
  • they are experiencing problems that are affecting their academic performance
     
  • their transcript states Academic Probation/Required to Withdraw  

First and Second Year Social Work students may request an appointment with an Academic Advisor by:

Third and Fourth Year Social Work students are assigned a Faculty Advisor.

Please check the list in the Social Work Learning Centre (2154 CHN) for the name of your Faculty Advisor.
 

S.T.E.P.S. (Skills to Enhance Personal Success)

S.T.E.P.S is another great resource on our campus available to help you develop new learning strategies and effective study habits as well as offering workshops on how to better improve your grades and test strategies. S.T.E.P.S. is presented by the Educational Development Centre, Dillon Hall Room 117 Phone: 253-300 x 3488.
