Volunteer of the Year!

Volunteer of the Year 2011!

This year’s award winner proved to be a vital and strong component of the Students Orienting Students program.  Dayna Ouellette has been an S.O.S. volunteer for almost four years and has contributed over 370 hours, with the majority of the hours being recorded this year. She has been a part of SOS since 2008 and she has participated in several aspects of the S.O.S program, such as Head Start, Summer Information Program, Windsor Welcome Week, Community Outreach Team, Major Events Team, and Parent Committee.  She was also an integral part of the SOS recruitment strategy with her contributions to the Volunteer Selection Board and the creation of new SOS recruitment banners.  Dayna demonstrates the qualities of an excellent volunteer with her dedication, willingness to help others, and positive attitude.  She is always eager to participate and contribute new ideas as a knowledgeable member of the university community.  Her enthusiastic and helpful nature makes her an exceptional volunteer.
I would like to congratulate Dayna Ouellette for being this year’s S.O.S volunteer of the year.

Volunteer of the Year 2010!

Lindsay Gore

I have personally only known this volunteer for a year, but during that time she has managed to surpass my expectations. Lindsay has been an S.O.S. volunteer for three years and has volunteered a total of 248 hours. She has been involved in various orientation programming, such as Head Start, Windsor Welcome Week, Summer Information Program, and Winter Orientation. She was also a contributing member to the Volunteer Selection Board, SOS Recruitment, and Advisory Board. She also acted as the Assistant Coordinator for the 2009-2010 year, under the supervision of the SOS Coordinator, Ms. Carly Hunt.

Lindsay encompasses the qualities of an exceptional S.O.S. volunteer. She is dedicated, organized, and honest. She is always taking initiative when completing various tasks. Lindsay is also a terrific role model to both our incoming and returning volunteers. In addition to volunteering, Lindsay also finds time to participate in the Book Buddy Program and work part-time in the Educational Development Centre as the Co-Curricular Transcript Coordinator.

Without further ado, congratulations Lindsay Gore on being this year’s SOS Volunteer of the Year and best of luck in the Faculty of Education next year, and with all of your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Johnathan Weedmark-King

Volunteer of the Year 2009!

Kathleen BronnarCarly Hunt (S.O.S. Coordinator): "I can’t quite say enough about this volunteer. In her personal life, she is an extremely successful student and a positive role model, well balancing school, personal and volunteering goals. She is consistently the first to offer or take on a responsibility, and follows through each task she takes on to the end. She was the first to take on what was a new position as of last year, and has set the bar extremely high for the next person to take it on. She consistently goes above and beyond what was ever expected of her or the position, and has often noted that it was her personal goal to make sure I kept my sanity. I don’t know what I’ll do without her next year, and I’d like to recognize Kathleen Bonnar as this year’s SOS Volunteer of the Year!"
