Why Join S.O.S?
It’s that time of year again. Recruitment for Students Orienting Students (S.O.S.) has begun.
S.O.S. is a dynamic group of student volunteers who help with Head Start and Windsor Welcome Week. There are also various teams and committees for a volunteer to join in order to stay involved throughout the academic year.
“Joining S.O.S. is a great way to gain experience that will help you in other areas of your life” says returning volunteer Nicole Lees. She joined S.O.S. in 2007 and was a co-leader on the Communications Team in 2011.
Nicole’s favorite experience from joining S.O.S. was during Windsor Welcome Week. “It was really fun. I met a lot of friends and was able to help first year students in their transition to University.”
Applications will be available January 2, 2012 and are due by January 27, 2012 for both new and returning volunteers who are interested in being a part of S.O.S. during 2012/2013.
For more information or to complete an application look under "Prospective Volunteers". Applications will be made available January 2, 2012.
What is S.O.S?
S.O.S. is comprised of a group of highly motivated, energetic students who devote their time to helping new students adjust successfully to university life. In the process, volunteers gain a great deal of experience and make valuable campus contacts.
Mission Statement
Students Orienting Students seeks to ease the transition of new students to the University of Windsor. Together, the two components of SOS provide a friendly and non threatening entry into the University community for our new students, and involve volunteers in strategic planning of the program.
