University of Windsor Transfer Student Scholarships

If you are a transfer student, please contact our office to determine your eligibility for a transfer scholarship.  Effective 2024-25, eligible transfer students as per the criteria below must apply for the Transfer Student Scholarship via the UWinAward Profile/Application that will be available on August 1, 2024. 

$500 Scholarship

Full-time undergraduate students who are direct transfers from a Canadian or International College or University (excluding Law and Education) with a transfer average between 80% - 84.9% will receive an award valued at $500, provided that they have met the additional eligibility requirement below.

$1000 Scholarship

Full-time undergraduate students who are direct transfers from a Canadian or International College or University (excluding Law and Education) with a transfer average of 85% or greater will receive an award valued at $1000, provided that they have met the additional eligibility requirement below.

A student transferring from a college or university (domestic or international) who meets the following eligibility criteria will be offered a one-time Transfer Student Scholarship payable upon registration in their first term of full-time study at the University of Windsor:

  • Must be eligible for a minimum of three transfer credits
  • Must have a minimum of an 80% cumulative average (admission average)
  • Must have attended a minimum of 2 semesters of full-time studies in an academic program at a college or university
  • Must have been a registered college/university student for at least one full-time semester in the academic year immediately preceding the start of full-time studies at the University of Windsor.
  • Must be transferring into an undergraduate degree program (with the exception of Law and Education)
  • Collaborative Nursing students who begin their studies at the college and complete their final two years at the University of Windsor are not eligible.
  • Students completing ELIP as part of their admission requirement can be considered once their ELIP requirements are met (follows the same consideration for entrance scholarship eligibility). 

Learn more how to apply scholarships, awards and bursaries online once you are a registered student at the University of Windsor.  Applications for in-course scholarships and bursaries open on August 1st of each year.

Please ensure that all required supporting documentation is submitted to Student Awards & Financial Aid in a timely manner. Late submission of supporting documentation will result in delays in the application review process.

Transfer students can be considered for additional entrance awards depending on the criteria of the award.  For example, students transferring into Human Kinetics, can be considered for the William Bond Award (Value: $3,000) by manually entering Semester 1 or SM1 as their entering level on their Award Profile.  By entering SM1, the Willian Bond Award will appear in your Award Results Profile.  This award is open to both students entering directly from highschool as well as transfer students.

Entrance Award Deadline: April 30

Transfer students can also be considered for in-course awards depending on the criteria of the award. 

In-Course Awards Open: August 1 and deadlines vary.

If you feel that you need to talk to someone about your situation, please take the following steps:

1) Try asking your question using https://ask.uwindsor.ca.  We have many knowledge base articles that might be able to assist you with your question.

2) Log on to https://ask.uwindsor.ca to submit a service request and a Student Awards or Financial Aid Representative will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.

3) Call our office during our phone service hours.  A Student Award or Financial Aid Representative may be able to resolve your issue over the phone.

4) If options 1) through 3) do not resolve your issue,  we will schedule you a virtual Teams meeting/appointment with a Student Awards or Financial Aid Specialist for a time that is mutually convenient.

  • We will attempt to return messages and service requests within 2 business days where possible.  In September, January & May however, our response time may be closer to 7-10 business days.
