Booking Appointments


Your first appointment with a therapist can usually be scheduled within a few days of your initial application. During busy times of the year, however, you may have to wait a little longer.

"I'm a new client"

If it is your first visit to the Student Counselling Centre, you must come in during our walk-in hours, which are Monday-Friday 1:00pm-3:00pm. It takes approximately 30 minutes to fill out the initial paperwork. The last appointment for walk-ins is 3:30pm so initial paperwork must be started by 3:00pm. 

"I am a regular client"

If you have been to the SCC in the past 6 months, you can call, come in, or email to make an appointment.

"I was away for the summer"

If it's a new school year and you're a returning client your information will need to be updated so please come into the office during walk-in hours, which are Monday-Friday 1:00pm-3:00pm. 

Eligibility


Students wishing to make an appointment must be registered at the University of Windsor (full-time or part-time) to receive counselling.

If you are not registered in the present term but plan to be registered in the upcoming term, you may be eligible to receive services. Please contact the Counselling Centre for more information. 

Please note that sessions at SCC are based on registration status, not extended health care coverage status.  Additionally, SCC is separate from Student Health Services and may have different service eligibility criteria.

Reminders


Staff at SCC will provide you with an appointment card that lists the time and date of your next appointment. The secretary will also email appointment reminders to your Uwindsor email account.

Cancelling Appointments


Please inform us as soon as possible if you cannot avoid missing an appointment. 

To cancel an appointment during and after hours, please call us at 519-253-3000 ext. 4616 with your name, date and time of your appointment that you would like to cancel. You may also leave an email at scc@uwindsor.ca

We request that students provide notice of cancellation. Missing appointments without notice may limit your eligibility to receive further follow-up. A $10 "no show" fee also applies if you do not cancel your appointment.
