Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Language and Literature & Psychology
The English Language and Literature and Psychology combined program is offered jointly by our English and Psychology departments to allow students to explore facets of both areas.
In studying English literature, you will be able to understand the ways in which language and literature inform and reflect various cultures, social bodies, and historical periods, and can explore the diversity of literary and social voices within traditions of literature. This program trains students to interpret, reorganize, and rephrase written materials to improve or modify effectiveness, and to assert their knowledge, ideas, and opinions in persuasive writing with correct grammar and vocabulary.
Our Psychology courses cover such topics as: memory, motivation, and decision making; how the attitudes and actions of other people influence us; the origins and treatment of mental illness; human development from birth to death; and the way our cultural backgrounds shape the way we think and behave. Our large and small lectures, seminars, and discussion groups offer opportunities for active learning, and for participation in field settings.
