Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Sociology & Women's and Gender Studies
The Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies combined program is offered jointly through our Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology and Department of Women’s Studies. This combined program allows students to gain training in topic areas from both majors.
Sociology is the study of societies, social life, and social change. It investigates social, cultural and demographic issues in Canada and around the world. Topics covered include: sexuality, popular culture, inequality, migration, race, ethnicity, class, gender, values, health, family dynamics, law, social movements, institutions, and community.
Combine this with the breadth and depth of Women’s and Gender Studies – it will amaze you. A deep understanding of women and gender is at the heart of the program, but this is not its boundary. Women’s and Gender Studies is concerned with equality and social justice in the broadest sense. Our goal is to help you “find your voice”. We prepare you to act on what you learn and encourage you to work with others to make a better world.
