Each Alternative Spring Break experience will consist of:

  • 10-15 Participants: undergraduate or graduate students
  • 1 Team Leader: an undergraduate student
  • 2 Team Advisors: University of Windsor faculty, staff, or graduate students

Please note that your application statement will be considered quite carefully, so make sure you put some thought into expressing what this experience will mean to you!

Participants will take part in all aspects of the ASB program, including all Pre-Departure sessions, Final Outcomes, as well as all fundraising initiatives. As an ASB participant, this is an opportunity for you to represent the University of Windsor in a professional capacity, and show your leadership skills! Team members will be active, positive role models.

In each ASB group, there will be 10-15 students from a range of academic programs and years of study. If you have an interest in making a difference and positively impacting a community, then you should apply!

Every ASB trip has one Student Team Leader. Team Leaders are full-time University of Windsor students who will work in cooperation with their Team Advisor (UWindsor faculty or staff members) to guide a group of student participants through the ASB program. Team Leaders will assist with various aspects of the program, including:

  • recruitment and team selection
  • service site arrangements
  • preparing the team
  • leading structured reflection activities
  • assisting with fundraising efforts
  • maintaining a record of the experience
  • evaluating their particular ASB program

We hope to recruit members of staff, faculty, or full-time graduate students to participate as Team Advisors for the Alternative Spring Break program. Team Advisors represent the University of Windsor in a professional manner throughout the travel experience. They are positive role models and advisors for student participants and support students in their learning and personal development by providing guidance and feedback throughout the experience.
